Siddharth on Fighter being compared with Top Gun

Filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s recent project, ‘Fighter,’ faced comparisons to Hollywood’s ‘Top Gun’ after its teaser and trailer release. Anand, speaking to Galatta Plus, stressed the importance of Indian audiences appreciating original storytelling and lamented the loss of respect for Bollywood due to past instances of copying from Hollywood. He clarified that while ‘Fighter’ involves fighter jets like ‘Top Gun,’ the comparison is unfounded upon watching the trailer. Anand highlighted the prevalence of negative social media chatter, which often undermines creative efforts. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, ‘Fighter’ boasted one of Bollywood’s largest crews. Anand urged audiences to move beyond comparisons and support indigenous narratives, emphasizing the industry’s shift towards authenticity.
